The Best of The Rest: Even More RSD Black Friday Releases Confirmed!

November 27th is always a special day for vinyl supporters. Music announcers, full from yesterday's Thanksgiving meal, line up at the district shops for the chance to buy limited editions. But this year, in connection with the pandemic Covid-19, the celebration has the possibility of seeing a different number of releases (in fact, the RSD announced that it will be the strictest regarding online sales), one thing is constant: there will be a certain number of noteworthy releases out there, cheapest at the record stores in your district! Here we present a certain number of releases from big and small labels that we have added to our wish list, with descriptions provided by the labels themselves.

Monty Alexander, Love You Madly: Live at Baba's (Resonance, 2-VP, 1 cd.)

To release this concert album, Resonance raided the vaults of Jamaican pianist Monty Alexander. We unearthed a recording of the performance, recorded on August 6, 1982 at the club of the same name in Fort Luodale, Florida, and engineered by Mackman Emerman at Criteria Recording Studios in Miami. The album combines traditional stereotypes, ballads, blues, and pretty much everything else, offering an educational program of the artist's many talents. The album's mast, using two decks, was performed by Bernie Grundman and Press-RTI. It comes with a booklet of interviews, essays, and photos.

Anthrax Soldiers of Metal (Megaforce, LP Black Orange, 1. 000 copies)

Megaforce releases the lost EP Anthrax from 1983 in a special colorway "Black in Orange". The release was initially conceived as an EP, with a single featuring Soldiers of Metal on A-Wrapped and "Howling Furies" on B-Wagon. What would an EP look like 30 years later?

Jon Batiste, We Are Roots & Traditions (Verve, 12" EP Purple, 2, 500 copies)

What about the unusual music of Late Show favorite Stephen Colbert's Jon Batista? Batista's combination of jazz, soul, gospel, funk and rap has made him a popular musical artist, groupie and now soundtrack composer. We Are Roots & Traditions features four songs: "Work It Out," "Need You," "We Arere," and a Ptolemy-mixed version of "Tell the Truth" featuring the Red Brown Mardi Gras rendition. Limited to 2, 500 copies.

Beastie Boys, Some Old Bullshit (Capitol/Ume, LP Snow White, 8, 000 copies)

Released in 1994, this scratchy collection of Beastie Boys' early '80s EPs and records. Far from being a group that transformed hip-hop, these tracks hint at their origins as part of the New York hardcore scene. The compilation was released on limited edition Snow White vinyl.

The Beat Farmers: Live at Spring Valley in 1983 (Blixa Sounds, 2 LP, 1, 000 copies)

A 1983 live recording by San Diego-based root rock band The Beat Farmers, performed two years before the release of Tales of the New West on Rhino in 1985. As such, this double album is a sort of prologue to their career. Originally released on CD in 2003, this collection first caught their attention on limited edition vinyl.

Dear Coast, Crazy for You: 10th Anniversary Edition (Mexican Summer, LP Summer Sky Wave, 1, 000 copies)

It's not an easy thing to count on, but the best coast indie pop favorites released their personal debut album Crazy for You 10 years ago. To celebrate this anniversary, Mexican Summer has released a fresh vinyl press album, settling with the Pitchfork winners and indie-conservative favorites. Whether you're looking for a sunshine re-examination of their unique sound or want to hear it for the first time, now you have a chance to enjoy the album with a unique look.

Big K. R. I. T TDT (BMG, LP Black/White/Purple, 1, 500 copies)

In 2018, the hip-hop star suddenly released three EPs: Thrice X, Double Down, and Trifecta. Last year, he revisited these songs and compiled them into the 2019 mix TDT, which debuts here in physiological media. Printed in black, snow white and purple color versions, this disc will be one that hip-hop lovers will line up for.

Bilal & Nicky Jean, Black Coffee in Bed (Yep Roc Records, 7 inches, 800 copies)

Yep Roc Records' famous Squeeze Swendles cover series features Caber Bilala and Nicky Jean on the 1982 song "Black Coffee in Bed." (Nicky Jean is a talented singer-songwriter who has collaborated with Burt Bahara, Jimmy Webb, Carly Simon, Caroli King, Bob Dylan, and others, and also appears on his own album Tokens in a Jar.) This spiritual fan favorite has been reimagined for this limited edition, linking an instrumental version to the B-side.

Doyle Bramhall II, Be G Now (feat. Susan Tedeschi & Derek Trucks) (Surfdog, 7", 750 copies)

Beware of the Beatles of the combination! George Harrison's song "BEHE NOW NOW", which was included in the first song of Duet's Album "Living in the Material World", united with Duet Susan Tedesca and Derek Trevital in Guitar Paradox's Doyle Bram Hall II. Recorded the enlarged version. This single will be released for Attendance for Recovery Foundation. The B side is an instrumental version of this song.

Dave Bluebeck "Christmas Laraby" (Vave, 12 inches, with painting, 2500 sheets)

In 2010, the famous pianist, Dave Bluebeck, recorded his last session. Some of these songs will be included in the Lullabies collection, which is preparing to release from the V will label. However, this label also proposes a small CHRISTMAS LULLABIES that comes with the intimate interpretation of "Away in the Manger" and the unique play "Sleep Holy Infant". There seems to be a B on the side of the festival on the side. Perhaps it will be part of a solemn soundtrack!

George Coleman Quintet, In Baltimoa (Resonance / Reel to Real Recordings, LP, 1000 Excauman

On May 23, 1971, the unpublished performance of Tenor Sacher George Coleman, recorded in a famous ballroom in Baltimore, Massachusetts, is included in In Baltimore. Ridley (Lea Morgan, Hores Silver, Jackie McLaine) and drummer Harold White (Gary Baht, Raczan Roland Kark) have been added. This fresh limited LP is cohesive, cut, and a polite booklet with an essay and photos.

Comet is coming (Vave, 12 inches, 2500 sheets)

The limited 1 2-inch single was a little while ago, a British jazz group's imminent composition on the "A" side. This song, which is described as the lyrics and vocals of Joshui IDEACH, is described as a pulsed enthusiastic truck, with more materials from the successful 2019 album "LifeForce of the Deep Mystery" and "AFTERLIFE". It will praise the fans who want to enter. The B side is Remix DJ NOSS of "SUPER ZODIAC" recorded on the debut album from Impulse! Released from the record.

Carry on Music will release a special clear vinyl press on the album, including Side 4, featuring Crack The Sky's songs, which have been loved for decades.

Karen Dalton, it's very difficult to tell who will love you (Capitol/ Caroline)

Karen Dalton (1937-1993), a folk singer of the 60's and 70s, may not have been as long as singers of the same era, or may not have caused similar sensations. Unmistakable talent, unparalleled singing and hypnosi s-like guitars have found a new audience in the last few decades. Fortunately, this means that her work has been reviewed and enjoyed again. For example, a new reissue version of Dalton's 1969 album "It's so Hard to Tell Who's Going to Love You Best". The album, which contains original songs, musician songs of the same era, and blues masterpieces, expresses what Karen Dalton has achieved as an original musician.

Herbie Hancock Trio, Herbie Hancock Trio (Get On Down, LP, 2.)

By 1977, Herbie Hancock had spent the better part of a decade learning new countries in jazz fusion. His experiments with Mandisi and a flurry of luck with the Headhunters (Warner) had essentially moved him into the realm of electronica and funka. But here is this rare work: The Herbie Hancock Trio, joined by Basa's Ron Carter and a traditional quintet with Miles Davis' drummer Tony Williams, on the Strip-Back-Way album Rising Sun, released domestically for the first time. On this lost album, Trinity recorded a unique selection of Hancock compositions, including one Davis composition. Up until that time, the Herbie Hancock Trio's record press was only available in the Land of the Rising Sun. But Get On Down will print 2, 000 copies of this album, with a full Japanese reproduction, obi, and plenty of inserts. In the Garden 1972 Thanks to 1950s nostalgia, Richard's resurgence in musical interest, and a successful deal with Reprise, Little Richard made a comeback. That year he recorded a decent amount of material for two albums. For unknown reasons, this album seems to have been lost in a warehouse for decades. Various artists, the end is obvious: Jesus People Music (Vol. 1) (Org Music/Aquarium Drunkard, LP, 1, 200 sheets)

This fresh compilation is c o-produced by Org Music and Aquarium Dran Card, Online Magazine, and connects the outsider folk psychodelia, which is not well known, such as the Zesus People Movement. Immediately, he began to explore as much as possible, not just about the situation of rock, and his interests are still going on. Sam acquired an electronic media and a film bachelor's degree on radio and audio at the University of Tauson, and obtained a master's degree of audio art at the University of Silaks. He has benefited from his own knowledge and abilities working on a popular label that handles the reprinted version, and wants to move his eyes to convey music to a wide range of audiences from the catalog. When not reporting to the second disk, Sam can find a study on Joni Mitchell's career and add another boxing network to Amazon's personal desire list.

  • It's sad when record labels intentionally deny a certain demographic of record customers the opportunity to buy the music they want. I'd love to buy Nancy and Lee's unreleased music (CD singles, etc.), but like most other people, I don't own (or want) a record player.
  • HOERA!! There's barely a 50th anniversary box set of George Harrison's "All Things Must Pass" and instead we get a wacky colored (or colorless) VINYL SINGLE? It's huge! As long as the Harrison family keeps the safe under lock and key, this makes everyone happy, right? Everyone. Everyone? Yes, me too. Actually, everything has to pass. Still waiting for Early Takes Vol. 2.

All Things Must Pass was probably cancelled due to Covid. Note that a recent book from Lennon's estate specifies the Plastic Ono Band 4CD/2DVD Ultimate Box Set, even though the release date has not yet been made public. Dhani Harrison says she has listened to a lot of records from that time, not just the 1974 tour. As with the 1974 tour. As with, in fact, this is what will happen. We're all just getting excited right now."

Demetrio talks October 16, 2020 at 2:04 pm

  • The Many One Scorned Tour will be a great release. I've heard a few concerts, especially Billy Preston, up close and personal, and they weren't bad.

Guy Smiley talks October 16, 2020 at 11:28 am

  • I agree. The few performances I've heard were pretty good. In fact, I think the performances trump anything else, as much as the situation forces you to believe. George's voice was booming, it was amazing. I guess he needed a break. But I want to hear (see) everything that's actually there?

Okay, let's stop the swearing for a second. I think you're right about the ATMP box, and I think you're right about the 1974 release. I try to adore Olivia and Dhani, but when it comes to George's legacy, the lyrics "stingy" and "petty" are all I can think of. Again, I have it in the form of Early Takes Vol. 2, anyone? I didn't know Lennon/Pobb actually announced an album release. That's good news, too. Just like the movie Get Back was canceled, the boxing show Let It Be will be airing this holiday season. It has the potential to be a generous box like Beatles Bonanza at some point!
